How A Tempered Glass Mirror Is Made
Ever wonder what goes into the making of a mixed media tempered glass mirror?
Finished round mirrors have a 10" to 14" mirror in the middle surrounded by a beautiful 3" to 4" wide design created with mixed media elements. The elements used are a mix of paints, inks, colored foils, fabrics, tiles, glitter and/or jewels etc.
A solid piece of tempered glass is then either painted to match the colors in the design or left clear and carefully "smashed" to create the hundreds of fractured pieces. Each of the fractured pieces of glass are then meticulously placed one by one on top of the design fitting them together like a jigsaw puzzle. The result is a very durable and very beautiful one-of-a-kind piece of art with a magnificent shine.
Below is a time lapsed video that shows the process of creating one of my tempered glass. Enjoy!
